Pronounce the name in French: trois-ma, signifying Mali, Madagascar and Morocco, and the three master instrumentalists therefrom, pooling their considerable talents to create a highly original pan-African chamber music. Malian kora maestro Ballaké Sissoko, Moroccan oud virtuoso Driss el Maloumi and Madagascar’s prince of the valiha, Rajery, first crossed paths in 2006, a chance meeting at a festival in Agadir that blossomed into an enduring friendship and a continuing mutual musical exploration that they reconvene whenever their busy solo careers allow.

Since their debut album in 2007, they have worked extensively on Catalonian viola da gamba master, Jordi Savall’s epic project, The Routes of Slavery, and in 2017, released their second album, Anarouz, further developing the intricately interwoven, dazzlingly fluid sounds drawn from their individual and collective experiences.

Ballaké Sissoko - kora
Driss El Maloumi - oud
