French duo Accroche Note were founded in 1981 by soprano Françoise Kubler and clarinetist Armand Angster. Kubler and Angster have a deep history spanning countless performances, premieres, critical accolades, and nearly two dozen albums.
Accroche Note are not a static duo. Players are brought in to fit each program: the group is assembled, disbanded and reformed with new collaborators. Much the way an oenologist selects choice grapes for wine blends, Kubler and Angster realise their musical end-product by choosing co-conspirators in a variety of styles, and blending everything from free jazz to Monteverdi, Mozart to Ligeti and beyond.
Accroche Note arrive in yet another formation for their off C:N Showcase. Kubler and Angster are joined by KLANG4 musicians Pablo Valentino on sampler and turntables, and Yérri-Gaspar Hummel on electronics, for “unexpected soundscapes in tune with our times.” It will be a singular event, in true Accroche Note style.
