On his third album, Yoruba Odyssey, Lagos-born singer, guitarist, composer, Adédèjì, masterfully consolidates his international influences on his Yoruba roots, creating a powerful, forward-looking sound that stands firmly on terrain pioneered by Fela Kuti and King Sunny Ade, where messages from the likes of George Benson, Wes Montgomery, Charlie Parker, Prince and Weather Report are seamlessly interwoven. Adédèjì's prodigious musical talents first found expression in the church choir at the age of six. By age 18 he was a sought-after session guitarist and producer. His quest for knowledge took him to the London College of Music and the Prince Claus Conservatory, The Netherlands, and he now lives in Athens. He has performed at jazz, world and gospel events across Europe, while regularly returning to Lagos, where he assembled his impressively accomplished band. Rooted, full-on fuji jazz and more.
