In many ways, being knocked off his motorbike by a car was one of the best things that happened to the struggling singer, Alogte Oho. Months spent recuperating in hospital proved epiphanous and he wrote the song, Mam Yinne Wa (God, You Love Me So), which later became a runaway hit in the Frafra gospel music scene of northern Ghana. The song's ubiquity ensured that it was one of the first things that German producer and Philophon label boss Max Weissenfeld heard when he visited northern Ghana in 2013. The two men met and embarked on a series of recordings that became the internationally praised Mam Yinne Wa album. With the rousing vocals of the two-woman choir driven by super-tight horns and vintage keyboards, Alogte Oho & his Sounds of Joy surprise, delight and inspire.
