If you are reading this, you are biased. We all are. Our bias contributes to the troubling lack of diversity in our industry. The myth of meritocracy and a fear of change can prevent us from challenging these biases. We find ourselves perpetuating norms and cultures that preserve the privileged position of an elite minority, to the detriment of all.
In this session Rob Adediran, Susanna Eastburn and Stephen Frost will lead an exploration of our judgments and assessments of people and situations using contemporary models, research and stories from the sector. Delegates will begin to examine 'I'M IN' - a new approach to uncovering institutional bias developed by a cohort of 40 arts leaders from across the UK. 'I'M IN' builds on tools and learning from corporate world and suggests a practical way forward for those prepared to disrupt their unconscious bias, for good.
