Feeling trapped in the Roma village where he was born, Caliu refuses to accept that his days as the “King of the Violin” are behind him. Haunted by memories of his golden past and challenged by the present, he embarks on a journey to reinvent himself. Through uncertainty and self-discovery, music remains his constant companion, connecting him to his past while carrying him toward an uncertain future.
Simona Constantin is a Bucharest-based documentary filmmaker, curator, and researcher. For over a decade, she has focused on music as intangible cultural heritage, exploring the lives of traditional musicians and the generational transmission of their knowledge through film, cultural and educational projects.
