Presented by Miguel Buenrostro (Mexico/Germany)
In this audiovisual presentation, filmmaker Miguel Buenrostro brings together a series of collaborative artistic projects that reflect on the diasporic horizon of sound in different musical traditions. The presentation displays a series of gestures, concepts, and filmic practices gathered during research trips along different sonic routes, connecting ethnographic archives with site-specific musical interventions. From rhythmic Caribbean traditions to the production of wind instruments in the high sierra of Oaxaca, Mexico, the presentation opens up a search for transatlantic relations of knowledge.
Miguel Buenrostro is an artist and filmmaker from Tijuana, Mexico, based in Berlin. His work reflects upon the condition of the border as a site of knowledge production and interconnection.
