They face each other across a single Estonian zither, plucking four-handed accompaniments - minimalistic motifs, rippling arpeggios and resonant bass notes – while their distinctive voices weave harmoniously together. Katariina Kivi and Ann-Lisett Rebane create their own style, playing and composing on one instrument original songs inspired by time-honoured elements with which they weave from sound and silence minimalist nuggets that connect folklore, nature and enduring human stories with contemporary ruminations. Following the release of their album Tuule Sõnad in 2019 – which won them the Debut Album of the Year category at the Estonian Ethno Music Awards 2020 – the duo performed in the EU, Uzbekistan and Japan. The title of their 2021 release, Kulla Kerguseks, translates as 'Golden Light', a quality with which they have been illuminating international audiences on tour again in 2022.
