Edge Ensemble are a musical outfit based out of The Hague, with members from five different countries and varied backgrounds: improvised music, early music, contemporary classical, and free jazz.
Edge Ensemble are best experienced live – the way a doughnut fresh out of the fryer always tastes better than its day-old counterpart. For example, their show ‘The Games We Play’ consisted of commissioned pieces covering everything from child’s play to complex musical games requiring mid-performance strategizing. ‘New Music Jam’ featured riffs from composers like Andriessen, Reich and Lang chopped up and reconstituted in unplanned improvisations. Their most recent show pits ensemble members against each other while accompanying Victor Sjöström’s 1938 film ‘The Wind.’

Edge Ensemble have embraced the unknowable and the uncomfortable, and as such their live shows have become unmissable: a thrilling counterpoint to dull, predictable performances.
