This open discussion delves into the critical issues that SEEN journalists and contributors are investigating and experiencing within the music ecology of Manchester and the UK.
The panel will explore how these topics connect with the challenges artists are facing across the world. Areas include ethical and extractive practices around intellectual property (e.g. copyright, sampling); decolonising ownership, operations and systems; representation; resisting the policing of music, the criminalisation of global majority genres and the impact of AI and racial profiling on global music scenes.

Please note that this session and all conferences held in Conference Room 1 at Manchester Central will include auto-captions (in English) for improved accessibility.
