Beamed in from Budapest, we have the first night of WOMEX 20 Jury Selected Hungarian Showcases, performing live in Müpa.
To start this stage for Friday, Magos conveys the purest traditional tones of Hungarian folk through their line-up of the most skilled young revival folk musicians of their generations, including multiply awarded fiddlers, musician siblings with Transylvanian roots, and two veteran stagers of the late Buda Folk Band.
Also on stage are Ötödik Évszak/Cinquième Saison, their name signifying the Franco-Hungarian blend of their music and its embodiment in the person of their singer, Izabella Caussanel, daughter of a French father and a Hungarian mother.
