At Classical:NEXT in May 2017 we asked: Following the UK's momentous decision to leave the EU and the election of Donald Trump, what impact will the rise of populist politics have on the global classical music market? Is it business as usual, or are there dark times ahead?
Wind forward to September 2021. The UK formally left the EU on 31st January 2020 and emerged from the transition period in January 2021. As of 20th January 2021 Trump is no longer President of the US. And since early 2020, the world has been fighting a global pandemic. Are things as bad as we feared? Where are we struggling and what are we doing about it? Where are the rays of hope? Chaired by Cathy Graham, Director of Music at the British Council, with Mark Pemberton, ABO, join us to discuss the future we want for international collaboration for our industry following four momentous years.
