As the music sector evolves through digital innovation, cultural shifts, and new economic models, rethinking education and training has become essential. This panel explores how to future-proof the European music ecosystem through a holistic approach to music education – one that values both formal and informal learning, supports intergenerational knowledge exchange, and empowers everyone from emerging artists to cultural leaders. We will examine how conservatory training can complement grassroots, peer-led, and digital learning, and how these models can coexist to support creativity and sustainability. The conversation will also explore how to make the sector more equitable and attractive by fostering leadership, lifelong learning, fair practices, and professionalisation – equipping the next generation with the skills to thrive across artistic, technical, and strategic roles.
