Coordinated by Mark Pemberton (UK), director, Association of British Orchestras

with Jesse Rosen (US), president and ceo, League of American Orchestras

Francisco Joubert Bernard (Puerto Rico/US), bassoon fellow, New World Symphony

Orchestras globally are being increasingly challenged by our many stakeholders, from public funders and donors to politicians and the media, on the lack of diversity in their workforce and their audiences. Whether it’s race, gender or disability, we are under scrutiny as never before. But the evidence is there that diversity and inclusion are good for business and increased relevance leads to increased revenue. Join us as we hear from Jesse Rosen, President and CEO of the League of American Orchestras and Francisco Joubert Bernard, Bassoon Fellow at the New World Symphony, on how colleagues in the USA have been approaching the issue, before opening up a discussion on the challenges and strategies in other countries.
