GLOW is a vogue-opera based on the life of the flamboyant queer activist and freedom fighter, Simon Nkoli who lead the struggle for the acceptance of LBGTIQ rights in South Africa.
Imprisoned in solitary confinement for treason by the apartheid regime, he fought against prejudice both within and outside prison. Mashing up disco beats with arias, interviews from video archives, protest songs; and lip-syncing, Philip Miller, the composer will create a contemporary hybrid opera.
