With access to new technologies and a growing spending-power, it's the younger generation that is spearheading the changes in the music industry in India. Yet while the 'independent' music scene is still driven by a small group of passionate people, it is steadily becoming more organized in discovering new talents, gaining more acceptance for varied programming and opening doors for international musicians.
This presentation provides practical and professional knowledge about contemporary India’s music industry: how India's emerging music landscape works, the opportunities, recent changes, and the challenges - from the live scene to the recording industry. A bird’s-eye view on audience expectations, the importance of working with an Indian partner for critical local knowledge, how and why to collaborate with Indian musicians, and the importance of connecting with networks in India and Asia.
