Son of a pastor from Ipanema, João Selva is an exponent artist of Brazilian Tropicália, well known to all those listening to the new sounds of Brazil. After collaborating with many artists (Flavia Coelho, Mestre Luiz Paixão, Maga Bo, Lucas Santtana, Chico César, Siba, Renata Rosa, etc.) he masterfully reassembled all the pieces of his personal puzzle and launched his solo career, in 2016, following his meeting with prolific French producer Bruno Patchworks (Uptown Funk Empire, David Walters, Voilaaa,…). At ease with both codified traditions and mutant aesthetics, Joao Selva’s music is an invigorating dance and dream machine that updates the tropicalist revolution of the 70s by offering a turbulent mix of samba soul, cosmic jazz and disco funk. His latest album "Navegar" (2021) is a masterpiece of exuberant and vintage tropical pop, widely broadcasted around the globe and acclaimed for its magnetic vocals, funky grooves and elegant melodies at the service of beautifully arranged songs. Currently working on his third solo album to be released by Underdog Records in early 2023, he’s internationally acknowledged as “one of the best ambassadors of Brazilian music”.
