The music industry is facing a severe mental health crisis with over 70% of musicians experiencing symptoms of mental illness, — significantly more than in the general population. Depression and anxiety are the most common problems, fuelled by financial instability, pressure to succeed, and exhaustion.
How's that inner voice? Are you sleeping well? Simple questions we rarely ask ourselves. Anxiety, burnout, depression, and addiction are topics rarely discussed among colleagues, but mental health is something we should talk about openly, so we can take care of ourselves and others.
In this mentorship session, we'll pause to understand what mental health is and why it matters. With guided conversation and a series of activities, we'll commit to self-care to become better promoters of music and culture.
