Lied Me! is an artistic project by the International Song Centre Heidelberg. Nine unique and very personal short films were made by eleven scholarship holders from the Lied Academy and the film production company Boomtown Media. Topics of social relevance and topicality from the everyday life of a young generation living in Europe were addressed: diversity and sexuality, globalisation and uprooting, exclusion, fears, self-doubt and depression. The films are accompanied by songs selected by the fellows, including works by Franz Schubert, Johannes Brahms, Hugo Wolf, Maurice Ravel, Gustav Mahler, Francis Poulenc and improvised song.
The project raised many points of discussion: how do we get people addicted to song? And how can the digital space help us to do so? How is artistic potential unleashed? We want to discuss these questions with you and show parts of the films.
