Chaired by Toni Groova (Spain/France), Groovalizacion; with Toty Sa'Med (Angola/Portugal), KiƓlo; Sarah Ardite (Spain), Musicas Sospechosas

Recorded during Toni Groova's first stay in Luanda for the fieldwork of a PhD on musical anthropology, his film about three musicians from Luanda captures the way young independent creators use art as a way of expressing an individual and collective identity that defies power and institutions in Africa. The talk will present the film in excerpts and delve into Angola's music scene through guests: one of the protagonists, musician Toty Sa'Med, as well as Sarah Ardite, selectora, a radio instigator, and the editor of Musicas Sospechosas. Toni Groova is a journalist, DJ, filmmaker, ethnomusicologist and events promoter, who has developed several projects in Europe, Africa, Latin America and the Mediterranean sea.
