Luciana Jury’s intensely personal way of interpreting her material, her innate empathy with the emotional core of a song and her skill at sharing that with her audiences has brought her to the forefront of Argentina’s contemporary folk scene. She grew up in an artistic family in suburban Buenos Aires in an area where tango, cumbia, rock and folk music all mingled, a diversity of influences now reflected in her repertoire of traditional songs, the works of artists such as Simon Diaz, Violeta Parra, Lhasa de Sela and Francisco Canaro, as well as her own compositions. Since her debut in 2008, she has released four albums two of which were nominated for a Gardel award. In 2015, she received an award from the Konex Foundation as one of the five best singers of the decade.
