Mali is often regarded as the cradle of today's blues. For centuries, music has strengthened the country's cultural identity, musicians are holding strong positions in society. Mali Blues is a musical journey, discovering the country's rich musical culture and its threat by radical Islamists.

Together with shooting star Fatoumata Diawara, ngoni player and traditional griot Bassekou Kouyaté, street rapper Master Soumy and Tuareg band leader Ahmed Ag Kaedi, the film embarks on a musical journey into Mali's agitated heart.

Lutz Gregor, the director, will be present for a Q&A session after the screening.
