It is hard not to fall for the enchanting blend of emotion, attitude and talent that emanates from this Catalan duo: Maria’s undeniably committed and soulful voice combined with the sober dexterity of Marcel’s guitar, ranging from sparsely sensitive accompaniment to billowing looped soundscapes, brings a new dimension to the Iberian folk songs that are their inspiration.
They search for their raw material in field recordings, libraries and digitized archives, mining the cultural expression of generations of Catalan poets and musicians and bringing it back home.
