Directed by Lucie Páchová
Duration 17’ | Sound only
The short film Mary is an experimental portrait of an Acholi woman living in a small village in Northern Uganda. As Mary spends her days farming, digging, cooking, planting, weeding, harvesting, collecting firewood, and grinding nuts, music and dance naturally accompany her activities through her voice and movements. The soundscape of village life intertwines with her rhythm, where every ordinary movement becomes a dance and every sound becomes music. Rather than following a conventional narrative, Mary immerses the audience in an audiovisual composition that flows with the cadence of her life.
