The climate crisis and post-pandemic world have highlighted our interconnectedness and the need for collective action, with the Global South experiencing greater economic damage. As the UN COP-30 approaches in Brazil in 2025, the Amazon Rainforest takes center stage.
This panel introduces the Amazon Festival Circuit, a Midia NINJA initiative launched in 2023, featuring eight festivals in the Brazilian Legal Amazon. These festivals place music at the heart of the global climate debate, integrating themes of sustainability, biodiversity, cultural diversity, and representation of Indigenous, Black, quilombola, women, caboclos, and riverine communities.
Facing threats like deforestation, mining, and illegal hunting, the Amazon is nearing a critical tipping point. Only a collective effort, including fostering a vibrant imagination of life, can address these issues. During the festivals, the "Reforest Now!" campaign will connect society with the forest, promoting reforestation efforts.
Please note that this session and all conferences held in Conference Room 1 at Manchester Central will include auto-captions (in English) for improved accessibility.
