Musical Archaeology is more than preservation and curation: it is an engine for career revival. For many artists that lived under the rule of oppressive regimes — like the Soviet Union or apartheid-era South Africa — global success was politically impossible in their prime. Today, we are not just reissuing records: we are correcting history. Often framed as digging for vinyl, its highest purpose is digging for people. This panel explores the ecosystem of "liberating" music. How do we translate the hype of a rediscovery into tangible revenue and live careers? We move beyond the artefact to the artist, discussing how to turn a reissue into sync placements and festival bookings.
