Pongo delivers her unique, progressive take on Angolan kuduro sounds with power, grace and dignity, mixing up the customary blend of soca, samba and hip-hop with an urban awareness easily negotiating the borders of EDM and saudade. It's a sound redolent with experience. Still a child when she and her family fled Luanda for Lisbon to escape the Angolan civil war, growing up in Portugal was often difficult but she drew on her childhood memories of Angola to stay positive. Music was the key and all doors opened when she joined the Denon Squad crew, which led to working with the mighty Buraka Som Sistema. Her 2019 solo debut release set her touring across Europe. Now hailed as the 'Queen of Kuduro Metamorphosis', she's been busy picking up the momentum in 2021.
