In the diverse landscape of South Asian independent music, artists navigate a complex maze of challenges. The shortage of structured mentorship programmes by industry veterans, limited resources, and opportunities for skill enhancement add to the struggle. Despite a surge in live performances, both artists and their audiences often face logistical hurdles, inadequate venue infrastructure, and subpar production planning. Additionally, the industry grapples with a lack of regulatory frameworks. The ecosystem is at a crossroads, ready for transformation but in urgent need of revitalisation. Prioritising professional artistic development, live show management and regulatory reform can spark a paradigm shift that empowers artists, enriches the audience experience and ensures the long-term sustainability of the industry.
