Sahib Pashazade is a master exponent of the short-necked, double-chambered lute known as the Tar. His list of achievements is impressive. Born in Baku in 1980, he concluded his studies in 2003 with a bachelor at Azerbaijan National Conservatory and in 2005 received his master with honorary diploma after completing his postgraduate studies in 2009. Since 2001 he has been a member of the Azerbaijani State Philharmonic. From 2005 he worked as a teacher at the Conservatory and was appointed in 2013 to associate professor. Alongside his academic career he has participated in concert tours around the world and performed as soloist in more than 45 countries. In duo with the equally accomplished Nagara barrel drum virtuoso Kamran Kerimov, the pair explore a rich repertoire of instrumental mugham pieces with dexterous elan.
