Saturday 24 October, WOMEX 20 Digital Edition - Direct from Budapest Ritmo!
Beamed in from Budapest, we have the first night of WOMEX 20 Jury Selected Hungarian Showcases, performing live in Müpa.
Opening the stage on Saturday, we have Babra who have been researching and reviving the almost-forgotten traditional music of South Slavic minorities along the Danube, and interpreting it in a suitably celebratory style, featuring the traditional plucked string instruments called tamburitza along with distinctive polyphonic singing.
And to close the night, a cappella vocal ensemble, Dalinda perform with a contemporary feminine energy, a playfully inventive approach to harmony and consistently engaging vocal arrangements, shining a new light on Hungary's venerable singing traditions.
