SibHack is a 48 hour hackathon inspired by the life and music of Jean Sibelius. This hackathon takes place during Classical:NEXT in a location outside de Doelen. Several creative teams of programmers have worked tirelessly on their own unique digital product. Have they made games? An app? Or will they present works of media art? The results are presented in front of the audience and the jury in the Van Cappellen Zaal.

This year we celebrate the 150th birthday of Jean Sibelius and Classical:NEXT has joined the celebration by organising SibHack. After a first edition of this event in Helsinki in October 2014, this cocktail of classical music, art, history and technology now takes place in Rotterdam.

Of the competing teams, three will be nominated by the jury. The final winner will be announced during the closing ceremony of Classical:NEXT, winning a cash prize of €1,500.

To find out more about the SibHack, you can visit the Tech Express session on Friday, 22 May. More information on this session here: http://www.classicalnext.com/net/piranha_arts_1/event/sibelius_hackers_in.

SibHack is supported by the Creative Industries Fund NL and Music Finland. The prize money is donated by the Finnish Institute.
