Fusing folklore with futurism and defining authenticity from an intensely personal perspective, award-winning vocalist, songwriter and producer Sofia Rei has carried diverse Latin American traditions from her native Buenos Aires to the creative cauldron of New York City, where she’s fused those sounds with jazz, classical, pop, and electronic music influences to forge a singular and constantly evolving sound. She's earned plaudits from the New York Times and DownBeat Magazine, has collaborated with like-minded innovators such as John Zorn, Maria Schneider, Marc Ribot, Bobby McFerrin, Pedrito Martinez, Susana Baca and many others, and performed in some of the most prestigious jazz venues in the US, as well as major concert halls and festivals around the world. Alongside her solo projects she is a dedicated educator at New York University and Berklee College of Music.
