A portrait of modern-day Tehran told through the sounds and stories of Nesa Azadikhah, a 34-year-old DJ, producer and founder of Deep House Tehran, a community platform at the forefront of Iran's burgeoning underground electronic music culture. Sounds of Tehran came about through a combination of the filmmaker's passions - Victoria's interest in subliminal messaging through sound and Aleksandra's desire to tell underrepresented and untold female stories.
Aleksandra Bilic is a creative producer, filmmaker, scriptwriter and founder of Page She - a video project that helps to tackle the misrepresentation and lack of female voice and gaze in the media. Her recent work examines issues that are a result of displacement; for her it is of utmost importance to champion and facilitate platforms for new discourse to develop. Her films include Smash and Grab: The Story of the Pink Panthers and Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer.
Victoria Fiore is a documentary filmmaker and editor working with the New York Times Op-Docs, VICE News, The Guardian, the BBC to name a few. Through her intimate documentary approach, she especially loves challenging her own preconceptions & telling nuanced stories from hard-to-access and often misunderstood locations.
