A symbiotic relationship exploring the echoes of English folk music from a contemporary perspective, fiddle player Owen Spafford and guitarist Louis Campbell – conservatoire-trained virtuosos together known as Spafford Campbell – distil their love of traditional and experimental music into something powerful, intricate and intimate. Integrating ambient loops, effects pedals, and processed fiddle sounds, their music manages to orbit many different sound-worlds from traditional dance tunes to chamber music and post-rock. They first met as teenagers in the National Youth Folk Ensemble, discovering the creative chemistry that led to the formation of their duo in 2018. Their 2022 self-released debut album, You Golden, won five-star reviews and a signing with Real World Records has yielded an EP, 102 Metres East, and the newly released album, Tomorrow Held, an entrancing, complex conjunction of complementary opposites.
