This session provides the participants with a new model for strategic management for orchestras and ensembles.
Developed by Dr Stefan Rosu, the model shows how an orchestral organisation can develop new and exciting products and services for its customers. In this context, the orchestra’s main product is not limited to the concert-performance, rather it uses the full range of competencies of all members of the orchestra (musicians, staff, board etc.) and the knowledge accumulated in the organisation as a starting point.

Dr Rosu argues an orchestra or ensemble that follows this strategic model to prepare for the future, can win back some of its relevance for society. How? By working within a value system based on classical music virtues.

This session draws on best practice examples and a follow-up discussion with the panellists.
