Terra Mater talks about land, a vast and complex issue in East Africa and the continent in general. This issue is directly linked to people, their heritage and their future. Stolen land, contaminated land, ravaged land versus rich land, fertile land, sacred land. The economic, political, and spiritual aspects are intertwined with our role in its ecosystem. This short is an urgent appeal to take responsibility for capitalism, colonialism, and environmental destruction in Africa.
Kantarama Gahigiri is a Rwandan-Swiss writer/director exploring identity, migration, and empowerment. Coco Em, aka Emma Mbeke Nzioka, is a Kenyan-based multidisciplinary artist, DJ and producer who founded Pass Pass to advocate for marginalised artists and highlight systemic inequalities.
