Directed by Maureen Gosling
Duration 107’ | English, Spanish with English subtitles
American history gets a shakeup through the story of Barbara Dane, a powerhouse blues/jazz/folk singer whose unbending principles guide her through notoriety, obscurity, and finally, music legend. Dane emanated the people-powered connectivity of folk, the defiance of blues and the elemental cool of jazz while propelling major historic events with boldness and subversion that cut through commercial artifice and earned her a 5" FBI file.
Documentary filmmaker Maureen Gosling directed, produced, and edited, with Chris Simon, This Ain't No Mouse Music! on the legacy of American roots music record producer, Chris Strachwitz. She is best known for her 20-year collaboration with the late Les Blank, including the British Academy Award-winning Burden of Dreams, which is being re-released in a restored 4k digital version.
Director Maureen Gosling will be attending WOMEX 2024.
