This is a film about how America was democratized by electrical sound recording in the 1920’s. It is a kaleidoscopic odyssey that shows how America first heard itself: Hopi Native Americans, Cajuns, African Americans, Latinos, were all given a voice to express their lives and emotions for the very first time in history. This deeply emotional story is told for the first time through ten years of research, unearthing exceptional never before seen film footage and revelatory wonderful music.
Allison McGourty, the producer, will be present for a Q&A session after the screening.
