The Trio Woźniak/Wachowiak/Kinaszewska aka WoWaKin was founded in the spring of 2016. The three young musicians bring together their varied backgrounds in classical, jazz and contemporary music to explore the roots of Polish village dance music. They energetically raise the spirit of a traditional village celebration, goading a new generation of dancers into the requisite trance-like state through inventive, open-ended improvisation on a dynamic repertoire of mazurkas, oberkas, polkas, kujawiaks, and Polish-style tangos. The group are: Paula Kinaszewska, not only an award-winning violinist and singer but also a well-known actress from a number of TV series and with the National Theatre in Warsaw; Mateusz Wachowiak, a classically-educated accordionist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and expert in Balkan music and tango; Bartlomiej Woźniak, an award winning composer of music for theatre and film, songwriter, jazz guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and sound designer plus guest trumpeter, Kazimierz Nitkiewicz.
