Trip Trip Trip, a guitar trio formed in Bogotá, Colombia, took their name from a character in the novel Opio en las Nubes (Opium in the Clouds) by Colombian writer Rafael Chaparro Madiedo. Fittingly, their music is dreamlike, nebulous, and pleasingly narcotic.
Trip Trip Trip have received extensive support for concert cycles at home and abroad. In 2015, guitarists from all over the world came to Colombia for La Séptima Semana de la Guitarra del Banco de la República. As part of that, Trip Trip Trip were featured on a seven-city tour.
Trip Trip Trip's chamber music is charged with tango, flamenco, cumbia, jazz and rock grooves. The tensile strength of the trio's recordings and live performances is borne from their ability to meld individual styles into a single, indivisible alloy. Only highly-skilled chamber groups do this, and Trip Trip Trip - positioned at the crossroads of Latin and South American music traditions - count among the few.
