As generative AI systems learn from global repertoires, urgent questions arise: who owns the data, who gets paid, and who gets erased? These technologies are transforming music creation, distribution and monetisation — from training datasets and voice cloning, to recommendation systems and metadata infrastructures.
This panel brings together three professionals working internationally in AI research, digital distribution and intellectual property to explore how algorithmic systems are reshaping ownership, remuneration and cultural visibility in today’s music ecosystem. It will address training data consent, fair remuneration and the impact of emerging AI regulation on the music sector. Moving beyond hype or alarmism, the session provides practical and policy-oriented perspectives for artists, labels and cultural institutions adapting to AI-driven change.
