We have been working on a new regular feature for Backstage - Beyond the Spotlight. In partnership with Transglobal World Music Charts, this section will highlight scenes, labels and projects that might not get as much attention as they deserve, shining a light on exciting sounds from around the world.
Our maiden voyage lands in Peru, with the wonderful Buh Records, a Lima-based record label directed by Luis Alvarado. Founded in 2004, over nearly two decades it has consolidated itself as a space dedicated to a wide spectrum of experimental and unconventional music.
