The WOMEX Night at SXSW is part of the #MusicUnites programme: we teamed up with Global Music power houses globalFEST and rock paper scissors as well as with a new initiative called "ContraBanned", a campaign doing a showcase of artists from the six countries whose citizens are affected by the latest US administrations immigration regulations.
ContraBanned's waves have seen it reported by mass media (even including Breitbart - oh dear!) and is co-founded by Matthew Covey, a long term fighter for improving visa possibilties for foreign artists. We interviewed Covey at Wavelength/APAP conference this January about a white paper on helping artists to tour the US - watch the interview..
