Each month until April, we will revisit a batch of films from our WOMEX 24 Film programme.
Following our January selection, we continue with four more films depicting various communities and movements expressing themselves through music: a dreamlike journey documenting devotional music and dancing in Senegal; a short film blending documentary and audiovisual synaesthesia to tackle deafhood, prosthetics and the cyborg; the story of a group of friends building Hyderabad's (India) first spiritual sound system; and a touching encounter between modern technology and the rituals of the people in the central mountainous region of West Papua.
Starting Friday, 28 February until Sunday, 09 March, all virtualWOMEX members will be able to stream the selected films:
Baye Fall Namanala directed by Adelina Sasnauskaite & Chiara Baima Poma
Niranthea – A Portrait of Multiplicity in Five Movements directed by Marco Donnarumma
Sound System Sanskriti directed by Roy Dipankar
Wisisi Nit Meke directed by Arief Budiman, Bonny Lanny, Harun Rumbarar
