Look into Future

CN 2022

Classical:NEXT 2022 closes its doors with a festive ceremony in Schauspiel Hannover, celebrating the Innovation Award recipients as well as pointing out its future path which will start with a concept phase in 2023.

General manager Fabienne Krause took the opportunity to highlight some of the key themes of this year's anniversary edition, drawing attention to the narrative of diversity and inclusion in classical music, fair access, questions of gender, the representation of women and non-Eurocentric perspectives The overall intention was to bring the scene together around one table and to discuss what is needed to move classical and art music forward.

This year's edition - our tenth anniversary - was an occasion to look at what we have achieved and to reflect on what we can do to take Classical:NEXT to the next level. To achieve this in the best way, we have decided that there will be no Classical:NEXT edition in 2023 in order to take the time to imagine and to develop a sustainable vision and future-oriented concept for the event in a collaborative and participatory way. This will be our next mission, our next 'NEXT'.

"Classical:NEXT is shaped by its community - it is a movement as much as an on-site event - therefore we would like to invite you to be part of this exciting process, exchange ideas and start the future of Classical:NEXT together."
Fabienne Krause, general manager Classical:NEXT
