This month in our virtual cinema, we bring you sound artist Lucie Páchová’s short film Mary, an experimental portrait of an Acholi woman living in a small village in Northern Uganda. As Mary spends her days farming, digging, cooking, planting, weeding, harvesting, collecting firewood, and grinding nuts, music and dance naturally accompany her activities through her voice and movements. The soundscape of village life intertwines with her rhythm, where every ordinary movement becomes a dance, and every sound becomes music.
