No Genders, No Borders

WOMEX 22 Conference Programme, first announcement

After releasing a major lineup of artists playing at WOMEX 22 in Lisbon, we are excited to release the first wave of the Conference Programme including Networking Sessions and 'Who is coming?' list for our 28th edition, taking place in Lisbon, Portugal, 19–23 October 2022.

The 6 Conference and 3 Networking Sessions announced today already present 23 speakers from 12 countries, tackling a wide range of topics: the most buzzing industry trends: inclusivity, Womxn and gender diversity, art and artists at risk, indigenous music, Black resistance through music, global music royalty collections and more.

Artistic freedom is an important element of WOMEX, and we are thrilled to have the Artist At-Risk Networking Session debuting at the Lisbon edition, launching a revolutionary mentorship programme and resource, empowering the WOMEX community to increase its involvement with at-risk, persecuted and refugee artists.

The WOMEX Conference programme is created based on an annual call for proposals. Our independent, international jury then chooses the final sessions - jam-packed with veteran speakers and fresh young minds from all sectors of the music industry.

Networking Sessions are the home of international networks – many of which have been formed at WOMEX itself. Get together, deliberate, discuss and develop. WOMEX provides professional networks from all across the globe with a platform for their meetings.

A huge thanks to Marie Fol(France/The Netherlands) and Boima Tucker (Sierra Leone/USA), for being a part of the WOMEX22 Jury and handpicking this year's Conference Programme from all the proposals received.

Stay tuned as we will be releasing more Conference Programme in the coming weeks!
