Berlin/Las Palmas de Gran Canaria: WOMEX – the Worldwide Music Expo – is set to return to the island of Gran Canaria in 2026. The event’s organizers have officially announced Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as the host city for the 32nd edition. This marks the second time the Canary Islands will welcome the global music community, following their successful hosting of WOMEX in 2018.
The Island of Gran Canaria and the city Las Palmas de Gran Canaria are a vibrant cultural hub on the Canary Islands. While part of Spain, the archipelago lies in the Atlantic Ocean, close to the West African coast, and forms part of Macaronesia, a group of Atlantic archipelagos that also includes the Azores, Madeira, and Cabo Verde.
The five-day event will be delivered in partnership with local partners Quintans Events SL, Salán Producciones SL, Santiago Gutiérrez and Dreamers Canary Islands SL.
WOMEX 26 is funded by the Gran Canaria Island Council, the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the City Council’s Tourism Department and the Government of the Canary Islands.
This announcement comes in the final weeks leading up to the 31st edition of WOMEX that will be taking place in Tampere, Finland from 22 – 26 October 2025.
