Turkey’s only Blues festival the “Efes Pilsen Blues Festival” is gearing up for its 16th year. The program’s talented lineup and extensive program schedule, set to tour 18 cities in Turkey and 6 in Russia, was unveiled at Babylon on September 28th with a performance by the Boo Boo Davis Band.
The festival, beginning on November 9th and ending on December 16th, is already suffusing the city with its spirit. This year’s festival includes performances by Luther “Guitar” Johnson whose innovative technique and approach to blues, soul and funk is incomparable; Syl Johnson one of the greatest living R&B vocalists and guitarists, and American Blues vocal powerhouse Katherine Davis. Continuing a long tradition as the curators of the festival, Pozitif Productions has arranged for the surprise inclusion of Turkish Rock Music legend, Erkin Koray.
The groundbreaking Efes Pilsen Blues Festival is continuing to shatter the status quo by breaking boundaries in this year’s tour by adding international dates. Typically traveling 18 cities in Turkey with 21 concerts, this year the festival will include 7 shows in Russia and 1 in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Kicking off in Samsun, the festival will pass through Trabzon, Erzurum, Diyarbakýr, Gaziantep, Kayseri, Konya, Mersin, Adana, Istanbul, Bursa, Eskiþehir, Ankara, Antalya, Denizli, Izmir, the TRNC, Tekirdað, and Çanakkale. In Russia the spirit of Blues will permeate Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Ufa, Novosibirsk, and Rostov On Don.
