PROCULTURA started in 2019 to support culture and employment in Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe and East Timor. This European Union project is based on an understanding of the role of culture as a resource for human, social and economic development; symbol of identity and belonging; and a vehicle for diversity, freedom of expression and intercultural dialogue.

Through capacity building, the programme develops new skills in cultural players , providing financial and technical support for the development of projects and dissemination of products or services, especially music, performing arts and children's literature. Until 2024, PROCULTURA aims at contributing to increase employment and sustainable income in the cultural and creative economy of the six countries.

PROCULTURA will directly support more than 2,000 artists and authors, cultural managers and operators from the Portuguese-speaking African Countries and East Timor, with special attention to women, and more than 200 institutions (organisations and companies).

PROCULTURA (FED/2019/405-279) is an action funded by the European Union under the PALOP-TL EU Programme, co-financed and managed by Camões, I.P. and co-financed by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.
